Maxwell Sound Recording Studio is independently owned and operated by Mark Maxwell. The studio was started in 1984 in Athens, Georgia. Mark records and produces local as well as international acts on his own label, Arch Records. He also works on various other projects, including albums/CDs for other labels, soundtracks, voiceovers, and mastering.

Maxwell Sound features state-of-the-art equipment, including two G5-dual processor computers, Pro Tools HD, Logic 7.1, DVD Pro, Final Cut Pro, and many other audio, video, and graphic programs. The studio also features an Amek® Automated Console, a 2" twenty-four track recorder, and digital editing and mastering capabilities. In 1994, Maxwell Sound expanded to offer the best tracking room in Athens. This "live" room was designed and built from the ground up as a tracking room and features a twenty-foot vaulted ceiling, non-parallel walls, and hardwood floors.
